A general meeting of the B’nai HaKehilla of the Shul will be held, v“ht, at 7:00 PM. The purpose of these meetings is to try to give all the members of our community an opportunity to give voice to their ideas and concerns regarding the Shul and the Kehilla.
The evening’s program will begin with a brief general meeting. The members will then break into small groups, each group facilitated by one of the current members of the board of directors of the Shul or a member of the ladies auxiliary. Participants will be asked to share their ideas about issues that relate to the good and welfare of the Shul and Kehilla. Refreshments will be served.
All members are encouraged to attend the meeting and to be active participants. Please think about your ideas in advance and come prepared to express them. If you cannot attend, pass along your thoughts to a friend, or send a note to one of the members of the board or to the Rov, c/o Congregation Zera Avraham, 1560 Winona Court. Shatnes Testing-Looking for Replacement:
I am looking for someone to replace me for Shatnez checking. I have information about whom to contact to become a trained sample-taker, or to learn b'iyun how to check a garment without sending in any samples to a lab. The latter training is more intense, expensive and time-consuming, but then the checker is not mishubad to any lab and is allowed to keep all his /her earnings, without sending a portion to the lab (as is the case with a sample taking). I would be happy to discuss these ideas with any interested party please call CHAYA MEYER @ 303 573 8189 or 303 573 1133.
Shatnes Testing- Preferred Hours:
Currently my preferred hours of checking are Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:30-7:30. Please call to let me know you are coming. No drop-offs, please. The charge is $5 per garment.
Hilchos Shabbos:
In order to avoid the transgressions of kindling and cooking on Shabbos, the Chachomim enacted several additional decrees. One of these decrees is referred to as Hatmanah, or insulating. It is forbidden to insulate food in a substance which intensifies heat, even before Shabbos, in order that it should be hot on Shabbos. An application of this would be to wrap a pot on the Blech , or an urn which is plugged in. In addition, one may not insulate food on Shabbos, even in a material which only retains heat. Therefore, one may not wrap a hot pot in a towel on Shabbos for the first time.
