Chesed-Employment -- Tzadaka Pointer:

The highest form of Tzedaka is to help keep someone free of financial support by helping him find a job, or giving him business or work to do. (Yoreh Deah 249:6). We all try to give Tzedaka daily. Yet, we also all know someone without a job or out of work, especially with the economy on the downside. Why not try to the highest form of the Mitzvah (in addition to V’ahavta L’reacha Comocha, and other Mitzvos) by making a few calls or doing some legwork to help your friend or neighbor in this regard.

The Shul has formed a committee to help people look for employment. Some of the members are Mr. Bulow and Mr. Ferenstein. If you or someone you know are looking for employment please call them.  If you are  interested in joining the committee please call 720 904-1721 or email ebulow@attbi.com.

Looking for a way to help Eretz Yisroel:

All clothing must be dropped off no later than January 7th to be included in this first shipment.  This will be a continuous project that will allow Celia to take suitcases full of clothing with her during her trips to Eretz Yisroel. Drop off locations: There is no need to call, just leave the package at the home closest to you.

Shatnes Testing-Looking for Replacement:

I am looking for someone to replace me for Shatnez checking. I have information about whom to contact to become a trained sample-taker, or to learn b'iyun how to check a garment without sending in any samples to a lab. The latter training is more intense, expensive and time-consuming, but then the checker is not mishubad to any lab and is allowed to keep all his /her earnings, without sending a portion to the lab (as is the case with a sample taking). I would be happy to discuss these ideas with any interested party please call CHAYA MEYER @ 303 573 8189 or 303 573 1133.

Shatnes Testing- Preferred Hours:

Currently my preferred hours of checking are Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:30-7:30.  Please call to let me know you are coming.  No drop-offs, please.  The charge is $5 per garment.

Parshas Mikeitz

"And ( Yosef) took and sent portions to them from before him; and Binyamin's portion was five times as much as any of theirs. And they drank, and became inebriated with him." (Braishis 43:34)

Rashi comments that this was the first time the brothers drank wine, since they had sold Yosef. The question arises, though: Why did the brothers drink wine on this day, if they were still not aware of the presence of Yosef? The Kav Chain answers this question, by explaining that it was jealousy that caused the brothers to sell Yosef in the first place. At this time, Binyamin had received gifts five times greater than theirs, yet, the brothers did not feel jealousy. This was a sign to them that they had corrected the original  fault that had caused them to sell their brother. Overcoming this fault was a reason to celebrate and drink wine again. In our lives, too, overcoming our shortcomings and faults is a real reason for joy and happiness. (Mayanah Shel Torah)
