Eruv Sponsorship:

The Eruv is inspected once a week by Rabbi Yisroel Rosskamm and Rabbi Shlomo Rosenberg.  They alternate "sides" every week so that each Rabbi ends up inspecting the other Rabbi's work every week as well.  The inspectors must brave bad weather, mean dogs and curious goyim as they make their rounds.  It is not an easy job.  This is a good opportunity to publicly express our Hakoras Hatov to Rabbi Rosskamm and Rabbi Rosenberg for their efforts in our behalf.  When a person sponsors the Eruv through their donation of $36 to place a message on the Eruv Hotline, they are helping pay for the cost of these inspections.  We have an inspection every week, but we don't have a sponsor every week. Just think......... what if we didn't have an Eruv every week, Ch'V?!!! Please consider sponsoring the Eruv once during the course of a year in addition to your Eruv dues.  It is possible to have more than one full sponsor a week.  To sponsor the Eruv, write your name on the list at Shul or call Feivel Gallard, 303-825-5811.  The number for the Eruv Hotline is 303-767-ERUV (3788). Sponsorship is open for 8 weeks and now would be a great time to reserve an Eruv Sponsorship.

Shatnes Testing-Looking for Replacement:

I am looking for someone to replace me for Shatnez checking. I have information about whom to contact to become a trained sample-taker, or to learn b'iyun how to check a garment without sending in any samples to a lab. The latter training is more intense, expensive and time-consuming, but then the checker is not mishubad to any lab and is allowed to keep all his /her earnings, without sending a portion to the lab (as is the case with a sample taking). I would be happy to discuss these ideas with any interested party please call CHAYA MEYER @ 303 573 8189 or 303 573 1133.

Shatnes Testing- Preferred Hours:

Currently my preferred hours of checking are Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:30-7:30.  Please call to let me know you are coming.  No drop-offs, please.  The charge is $5 per garment.

Hilchos Shabbos:

In order to avoid the transgressions of kindling and cooking on Shabbos, the Chachomim  enacted several additional decrees. One of these decrees is referred to as Hatmanah,  or insulating. It is forbidden to insulate food in a substance which intensifies heat,  even before Shabbos, in order that it should be hot on Shabbos. An application of this would be to wrap a pot on the Blech , or an urn which is plugged in. In addition, one may not insulate food on Shabbos,  even in a material which only retains heat. Therefore, one may not wrap a hot pot in a towel on Shabbos for the first time.
