Chesed-Employment -- Tzadaka Pointer:
The highest form of Tzedaka is to help keep someone free of financial support by helping him find a job, or giving him business or work to do. (Yoreh Deah 249:6). We all try to give Tzedaka daily. Yet, we also all know someone without a job or out of work, especially with the economy on the downside. Why not try to the highest form of the Mitzvah (in addition to V’Ahavta L’Reacha Komocha, and other Mitzvos) by making a few calls or doing some legwork to help your friend or neighbor in this regard. The Shul has formed a committee to help people look for employment. Some of the members are Ephraim Bulow and Michael Ferenstein. If you or someone you know are looking for employment please call them. If you are interested in joining the committee please call ( 720) 904-1721 or email ebulow@attbi.com.
Chesed:
A woman at Shalom Park is in need of someone to drive her to doctors' appointments. Anyone able to volunteer to help, please call (303) 825-5811.
Looking for a way to help Eretz Yisroel:
Looking for a way to help Eretz Yisroel and clean out your closest, here’s your chance. We are collecting clothing for newborns thru 4 year olds, new and near new quality. The clothing will be taken to Eretz Yisroel by Celia Feder and distributed by BAMBI, an organization well known for their help to families in need. The first shipment will be taken in January. All clothing must be dropped off no later than January 7th to be included in this first shipment.
This will be a continuous project that will allow Celia to take suitcases full of clothing with her during her trips to Eretz Yisroel. For additional info call: Celia 303 623-3215 (7-11 pm)
Drop off locations: There is no need to call, just leave the package at the home closest to you.
Westside: Celia Feder: 1400 Utica Street - Aviva Polter: 5100 West 17th Avenue.
East Side: Dorit Fischer: 7369 East Byers Avenue - Michelle Teitelbaum: 5735 E. Cedar Avenue.
Southeast: Anne Steinberg: 9331 Riviera Hill Drive.
More Help for Eretz Yisroel:
N’eshe Chasdei Shlomo, a Chesed organization in Yerusholaim, started in memory of Dr. Shlomo Prenzlau,O”H is collecting unused household and gift items for needy Kallahs, e.g. tablecloths, linens, towels, platters, dishes, cutlery, pots, Challah covers and knives etc. For drop off please contact Mrs. Miriam Joseph 303 825-4394.
Shatnes Testing-Looking for Replacement:
I am looking for someone to replace me for Shatnez checking. I have information about whom to contact to become a trained sample-taker, or to learn b'iyun how to check a garment without sending in any samples to a lab. The latter training is more intense, expensive and time-consuming, but then the checker is not mishubad to any lab and is allowed to keep all his /her earnings, without sending a portion to the lab (as is the case with a sample taking). I would be happy to discuss these ideas with any interested party please call CHAYA MEYER @ 303 573 8189 or 303 573 1133.
Shatnes Testing- Preferred Hours:
Currently my preferred hours of checking are Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:30-7:30. Please call to let me know you are coming. No drop-offs, please. The charge is $5 per garment.
Parshas Vayechi:
So he blessed them that day, saying, “By you shall Israel bless saying, ‘May G-d Make you like Ephraim and like Manasseh’ “- and he put Ephraim before Manasseh. (49,20)
The Chasam Sofer explains that Ephraim and Manasseh signify Torah and Wealth. Manasseh was the official in charge of the house of Yosef, and Ephraim learned Torah with Yaakov Avinu. Our blessing, therefore, to our children, is that they should have both of these attributes, Torah and Wealth. Yet, the Pasuk specifically concludes that the blessing of Ephraim, of Torah, was placed before that of Manasseh , signifying wealth. From this we learn that while we want the best for our children in all respects, leading a Torah life is still foremost.
