,ca htmun – January 11th for Men

,ca htmun – January 18th for Women

A general meeting of the B’nai HaKehilla of the Shul will be held, vht, at 8:15 pm.  The purpose of these meetings is to try to give all the members of our community an opportunity to give voice to their ideas and concerns regarding the Shul and the Kehilla.  The evening’s program will begin with a brief general meeting.  The members will then break into small groups, each group facilitated by one of the current members of the board of directors of the Shul or a member of the ladies auxiliary.  Participants will be asked to share their ideas about issues that relate to the good and welfare of the Shul and Kehilla.  Refreshments will be served. After the sessions end, the regularly scheduled video presentation will be shown. All members are encouraged to attend the meeting and to be active participants.  Please think about your ideas in advance and come prepared to express them.  If you cannot attend, pass along your thoughts to a friend, or send a note to one of the members of the board or to the Rov, c/o Congregation Zera Avraham, 1560 Winona Court.  The members of the board hope that this forum will help to identify the needs of the members, will initiate continuing involvement in Shul affairs by a broad spectrum of members, and will serve as the beginning of a process that will help prepare for the selection of new members of the board at the next general election meeting.

Shatnes Testing-Looking for Replacement:

I am looking for someone to replace me for Shatnez checking. I have information about whom to contact to become a trained sample-taker, or to learn b'iyun how to check a garment without sending in any samples to a lab. The latter training is more intense, expensive and time-consuming, but then the checker is not mishubad to any lab and is allowed to keep all his /her earnings, without sending a portion to the lab (as is the case with a sample taking). I would be happy to discuss these ideas with any interested party please call CHAYA MEYER @ 303 573 8189 or 303 573 1133.

Shatnes Testing- Preferred Hours:

Currently my preferred hours of checking are Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:30-7:30.  Please call to let me know you are coming.  No drop-offs, please.  The charge is $5 per garment.

Parshas Bo:

You Shall Not Leave Any Of It Until Morning,(12:10)

You Shall Not Break A Bone In It. (12:46)

These laws, regarding  the Korban Pesach, are not found by other Korbanos. The reason for these laws being applied here is as follows: It is understood and common that a pauper would break the bones of his food to get every last bit of nourishment from it. Similarly, a pauper would naturally  save some of his food for the next day, lest he remain hungry. While this may be a good idea, it was not the case when our forefathers left Mitzraim. There they left in a hurry, without even preparing food for their  journey. They did so as they had total Emunah in Hashem. It is this lesson of Emunah that we are to remember for generations.  {Rabbi S.Z. Ulman of Bistritz}
